Good question. I recently was giveing a model A from my father in law. His pride and joy. When I asked about a title to prove ownership, he said he never had one. I called the secretary of state(I live in Michigan) and they said if I could prove proof of ownership through a letter from the gifter they could do a "search" and issue me a title. I assume that means running it through the DMV to see if there are any missing A's out there with my serial number. I hate dealing with these people as there kind of a pain in the butt! I didnt ask, but I am sure one way or another they will try to get some tax dollars out of me. Anyway I too would be interested in knowing if I can get a "older" title issued. Hope that helped some.
