: Anthony: I have a 13 year old Sharette (sp?) in my "A" and it started cranking very slow this year.I inquired at a local batery dealer that specializes in industrial batteries for fishing boats etc. They checked the batery and found it to be about 1/2 charged probably due to sulfites on the plates.A high current recharge brought the battery up to full charge. The Sharette name has been replaced in the US with "Rolls".The Rolls battery does not have as much cranking power as the cheaper brands due to the thicker plates and reinforcements. They mentioned that vibration is one of the major causes for battery failure in the long term. Some boat batteries last upwards of 20 years.Of course there is a different tpe of vibration in a boat verses a Model A.I hope this helps.

The How long should a 6 V battery last?I replaced mine about
: 2 years ago with a new Delco battery and it's beginning
: to not hold its charge.(I must admit that I haven't been
: driving the car much lately, but I've been recharging the
: battery every month or so).

: I've also noticed on the posting board that some folks have
: found inexpensive 6 V batteries at Walmart or PepBoys, but neither store has them in stock. Are they a special order?
: I'm told that they are made by Exide.

: Thanks, again, for all the help.
