I agree with Dave and Les,the valves should be set at a wider gap than originally specified.I believe that a later Ford service bulletin(mid thirties) says .013 and .017 inch.Once you find the full open position of the valve,turning the crank one complete revolution will put you on the base circle,so with your helper turnig that does make it less tedious.There are special tappett wrenches available that are made very thin,talk to an old timer mechanic and he may let you borrow them.Have fun!Ted

Has anyone been having any valve guide wear problems? My solution is to use bronze lined guides.
