: Hello,

: could anybody please give me the PPG or dupont
: formulas in acrylic lacquer for the following colors

: mahogany base coat
: ford maroon
: vermilion

: i have the model a ford paint & finish guide that
: contains all the chips; however, my local paint dealer
: is unable to match the chips since he doesn't
: have a computer.the only other dealer in town
: won't match chips that are smaller than 3" square
: (anybody know why??).so, it seems my only
: recourse is to obtain the formulas myself
: and take these back to the paint dealer in
: order to get the paint.

It is strange that your PPG dealer doesn't have the codes for acrylic lacquer.Every dealer that I have been to has them in the antique car section.

I just had 3 colors made for me including the Ford maroon (for my inside trim). Two different paint dealers PPG and (?) were able to mix them.

Try again and ask him to look harder in his books. He also can contact PPG and they will get the formulas to him if he still can't find them. Also Macs Antique Auto Partsin Lockport, NY (near Niagra Falls) has all of the lacquer paints by Ditzler.

I can send you/fax or mail two of the codes, but can't for the mahogany base coat since it isn't given in the '72 Ditzler Book.
