I used a different method.I got some burlap material and cut it into strips.Then I got some boat trailer wheelbearing grease (water resistant) and coated the strips very well.I then sandwiched the coated strips between the springs, assembled the center bolt and the clips on both sides and mounted the whole thing in the car.

I had to wipe oozing grease off several times during the reassembly and compression, but that was pretty easy and dirt cheap!I've put 3000 miles on the car so far over 3 years and it still is nice and comfortable springwise.I had M&S Hydraulics near Portland Oregon rebuild my shocks and the car really rides well.And no squeaks from the front end.
