If you have the cast iron Zenith, the large bolt at the bottom holds the halves together. The smaller hex is a cap for a jet. The halves maybe stuck caused by corrosion of the venturi. Do not force or pry it apart, soak it with liquid wrench and gently wiggle the halves working in the liquid wrench, may take over night to soak. Things to look for is,the float taking on fuel, crud in the float needle, is the needle housing/bolt seated, worn needle and the tricky one that Dale points to on Marco's page.

If you don't have time to order a rebuild kit a gasket can be made from paper gasket material found at a good auto parts store. On the same note if you want clean out the jets with the carb spray blast them from the fuel exits to back flush, don't try to take them apart and reusing the gasket seals, they will leak. This should get you back on the road but in all honesty the carb should be rebuilt with a good kit from Snyder's or Bratton's along with Mat Moaller's carb rebuild book.

One more thing, if it is crud that did the deed, you can get a filter screen extension that goes into the gas tank at the pet cock to draw gas above the layer of muck available from the same places as the kits.

The suppliers are
Bratton's

Snyder's

If you have a Tollitson, it comes apart with screws around the bowl but most of what is said about the zenith holds true for it too. Kits are available and Mat's book cover these also.
Good luck,
GW
