| Marco Thanks for your reply on the proper orientation of the cotterpin.The cotter that came with my car was opposite the proper orientation.But the engine was not the original, being one of those with the numbers nonexistent or "erased". I can see how it might be perceived as necessary to remove the flywheel to put it in correctly so whoever put it there probably did it after the fact with the flywheel in place by using a screwdriver.Too bad he didn't know your little trick!
