The original "A" engine vibrated worse than the newly rebuilt "B" .I checked the clutch housing to flywheel runout with a dial indicator and after juggling shims got the total runout down to .004".After installing the flywheel I put the indicator to work on it and the front-to-back runout was .003" total.I think these number should be ok.I did install a new lower distributor shaft and reset the timing. This improved things considerably but I still think it should be better. This weekend I plan to rebuild the distributor (new bushings, shaft, etc.) and the water pump (Bratton's deeluxe rebuild kit).I'm running a model "B" four blade fan as I can't find a two blade that I dare run.I'm going to check the four blade for balance. If I buy one of the timing kits which allow the use of a timing light, what number of degrees BFTDC should the engine be set at with the spark lever fully retarded?

Thanks,
Steve

: Had a "B" motor rebuilt, (counterweighted crank), everything new, plus dynamically balanced.Couldn't wait to get it installed and drive a smoother running 21 std coupe.Well I'm a little disapointed. It's nowhere near as smooth as I expected.I relaced the rear motor mount rubbers and the front motor mount springs.Could a worn universal joint add vibration?I removed the fan belt and drove a short distance to see if water pump/fan asssembly (not new) could be causing my problem.Vibration is not too bad up to 40 mph. But from there up it seems excessive. It is especially pronounced on decelaration from 50 mph.It is accompanied by an accostic sound I can only descibe as a "drumming" sound. It all adds up to a major detraction from the enjoyment of our "baby".If anyone out there has had similar experiences and can lend any suggetions we'd really appreciate it.

: Thanks,
