: I have a repro glass sediment bowl(USA made)that I am having trouble with as far as leakage. It came with a new seal (neoprene), and I have installed that and have tightened up the bowl fairly tight.I am afraid of making it too tight and putting it under stress and then hitting a bump in the road and having it break.Of course the exhaust manifold and muffler are right below it, an obviously dangerous situation.Any suggestions to stop the leakage? Are the neoprene seals the best kind to use? Thanks for any help.

The brass screen might be a little to large in diameter and interfere with the sealing of the gasket. Some of the repo screens have been known to cause this problem, just trim it down with some sissors.
