One easy source is the coil used on VW beetles from '67 - '73. It's a Bosch, but looks identical to the normal "A" replacement coils.It's a straight-on 12V unit using no external resistor.The VW Rabbit Dasher/Jetta/whatever Coils are also 12 volt but shouldn't be used because of their high current draw (bad for the points).
