: Chances are it's the fields that are burnt out, but the only sure way to tell is to strip the genny & also have the armature tested on a growler by an auto electrician. I see field coils are available from most of your "A" parts houses at a very reasonable price& there's a good article in volume 3 of How To Restore Your Model A on removing the pole shoe screws from a starter housing, which you could apply if you decide to re-build your generator yourself.

Sorry Joe, I knew I'd seen an article on the generator rebuild, i'ts in Volume 4 of How To Rebuild Your Model A.
