Chances are it's the fields that are burnt out, but the only sure way to tell is to strip the genny & also have the armature tested on a growler by an auto electrician. I see field coils are available from most of your "A" parts houses at a very reasonable price& there's a good article in volume 3 of How To Restore Your Model A on removing the pole shoe screws from a starter housing, which you could apply if you decide to re-build your generator yourself.

: My generator no longer charges the battery and smells burnt. I can't tell what exactly is burnt out, but believe the field coils are bad. Is this a good assumption? Thanks
