: This may seem like a simple question but when you turn the idle air mixture adjust screw on the carburetor in, (clockwise) are you making the mixture richer or leaner?I have a carb that sometimes stalls when stopping quickly or slowing down to turn a corner and preparing to shift into second gear.I already have the idle set up a little higher than normal and I am wondering if adjusting the mixture a little richer would cure this situation.

4-19-97 Turning the adjust screw clockwise will shut the
gas off more. All the way clockwise will completely shut it
off.If you turn it until it won't go any more, then turn back,
counterclock-wise used to be the starting point to begin with
then you made adjustments from there.
The stalling may be your "spark" lever. You need to push
it closer to the top the slower you are going. When at idle
the spark lever should be all the way to the top. Also
make your first adjustments at idle with the spark and gas
levers at the top..

I used to own one before they became collectors items!
