I too have Firestone tires made in New Zealand.The Firestone molds were purchased by a NZ company and the recent reproduction tires were made there for many years.
It's my understanding that the molds have been purchased by a major US tire dealer (sorry, I can't remember who) and will soon, if not already, be available again with "Made in USA" on the tires.
I'm sure that others reading this message board have also heard about this, and they will probably chime in with the full details.
