Thanks for your reply.I confess I never thought of using a c-clamp to remove the shackles but it seems it should work.Once you get them started over the "wear ridge" things should go much easier.
I myself have always preferred to replace the shackles.I just wish they made the repros to look like the originals.
That's the great thing about this board (thanks D.C.). There is nearly always somebody who has already done what you are considering or done it better (or easier) than you have.What a resource!
Of course, the downside to such an open forum is that it is always possible to get "slam dunked".I myself have nearly been to that point once or twice and have watched in some dismay (or delight) as I see others begin their descent.The best remedy in that case is to be careful in your replies, consider your wording, and remember that not every reply *requires* a response.
It's kind of like talking about the Model A at a party among Model A people.Courtesy Rules!
If it were only that way for Society as a whole.
