: The bracket to which the bracing rods are connected has become detached from the top of the radiator. While the bracket has three holes in it, it appears to have been welded to the top of the radiator. Is welding the proper attachment method or does it bolt on.If it is welded, has anyone used one of the industrial "cold welds" to reattach a bracket.I would like to reattach it without removing the radiator or shell.Any suggestions for reattachment would be appreciated. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

joe---in my opinion, the most practical option is for you to

remove the radiator and have a good specialist shop repair it,

since they could also clean out the tubes and inspect the unit

thoroly---you'd want to be certain that a previous owner

hadn't fitted a replacement unit of lesser quality or capacity

if, for whichever reason, you'd prefer to repair it yourself--

in situ--its easily done---nokrode paste works well--or

simply acid-core solder of best quality (the eutectic 63-37

may not be easy to find, but any 60% tin--40% lead solder

would do) beware---sneaky dishonest merchants will offer

"60-40" meaning 60% lead to entrap the unwary.

if you can obtain the use of a large electric soldering "iron"

that might be a little easier to use than a torch, but much

slower, tho---you've already gotten good advice about cleaning

and tinning the parts--also see if the radiator mountings are

fitted up correctly. ---hope this helps----
