: when installing my front spindles, I noticed that my locking pin only goes in one way, with the nut to the front, all of the books, say it should be nut to the rear. for mine to be this way my axle would have to be turned around, will it be a problem to leave this way.

: thanks for any help, jim

Jim,
As Dan said, the change wouldn't be difficult. However we might first look elseware for the problem. The holes bored in the axel were perfectly perpendicular to both the front and rear of the axel. There was no difference front to back or end to end of the front axel (originally). The locking pin has a tapered cut to tighten against the spindle bolt (king pin) and position it properly. If the locking pins are installable from the front, it would indicate the spindle bolts are likely switched from right to left.

The head of the spindle bolt is offset for the brake actuator. The offset should be towards the front of the car. If the remainder of the assembly (brake actuators, etc.) are reversed the front brakes will be inoperable.

Let us know if this doesn't do it.

Marco
