While I have been accussed (note the "cuss" in accussed) of being a purist as regards my thoughts on the Model A I must concede the fact that the cars do belong to their owners, as well as to history.

Some of the color combinations available on the cars from the factory were, franklY, dull. BORING! As an example the '29 Murray Town Sedan currently in my shop is/was available, if memory serves, in 4 color schemes. One of which was black and all of which were dark and somewhat dreary.

The customer's thoughts are that, while using the proper colors, in this case the two greens, but deviating slightly on the arrangement the car can be brightened up a little and stay reasonably correct. The car will never be judged because it is being built for a man that has no patience for others being critical of his "stuff" and has the bucks to back it up.

I convinced him to stay with the "right colors" but we are going to increase the percentage of the car that is painted the lighter green by painting the lower and upper in the Vagabond green and the mouldings and sunvisor, etc. in the darker Rock Moss. His car and it will be close....

My point is that as long as the car is not to be judged and the general integrity of the car is maintained the owner should do what is necessary to make the car pleasing to his eye, within limits of course. If he is happy then perhaps he will continue with the hobby, maintain the car as a Model A and keep those Stinking V8's where they belong!

On the mechanics I still draw the line. Alternators are for Pintos, period!

God Speed Under 50.

The Model A Fool.

: I had asked a question about a color combination last night.I guess it wasn't an authorized Ford color as my posting is "forbidden" =-)

: Seriously.... Much to my joy I recently purchased a '29 Tudor. I'm the third owner (had been in storage for 30 plus years)It even came with the original Title.

: I guess every Model A is different, this one came from a Seattle Dealer with dual sidemounts a Karri-Keen trunk and a color combination I can't find in any of the books including "The Judging Standards".

: It was built at the Seattle Plant on Jan.5, 1929. Under a very thin coat of it's current black paint; The lower body is painted "light Andalucite Blue", with Black upper body and belt moldings, with a straw stripe. The revels are painted a very light blue ("baby blue", not another shade of Adalucite Blue). This light blue color I can't identify...It dosen't come close to matching any of the chips in the "Ditzler Repaint Book".

: Though I could probably never "Show" this car seriously with this paint combination as it's not recoginized,I would like to repaint to it's original colors.I'd rather have the paint mixed from a "formula" rather than a "color match".Can someone help identify this light blue color or why the Seattle Plant painted this car a "non authorized color" (special order?).

: Sorry for the long posting......Thanks.
