Forbidden Paint Question

Posted by geo. shebley on March 27, 1998 at 21:16:30

I had asked a question about a color combination last night.I guess it wasn't an authorized Ford color as my posting is "forbidden" =-)

Seriously.... Much to my joy I recently purchased a '29 Tudor. I'm the third owner (had been in storage for 30 plus years)It even came with the original Title.

I guess every Model A is different, this one came from a Seattle Dealer with dual sidemounts a Karri-Keen trunk and a color combination I can't find in any of the books including "The Judging Standards".

It was built at the Seattle Plant on Jan.5, 1929. Under a very thin coat of it's current black paint; The lower body is painted "light Andalucite Blue", with Black upper body and belt moldings, with a straw stripe. The revels are painted a very light blue ("baby blue", not another shade of Adalucite Blue). This light blue color I can't identify...It dosen't come close to matching any of the chips in the "Ditzler Repaint Book".

Though I could probably never "Show" this car seriously with this paint combination as it's not recoginized,I would like to repaint to it's original colors.I'd rather have the paint mixed from a "formula" rather than a "color match".Can someone help identify this light blue color or why the Seattle Plant painted this car a "non authorized color" (special order?).

Sorry for the long posting......Thanks.
