I'm still not totally used to the idea of not being "the kid" anymore. I was traveling east to the national meets in '96 when I realized my Model A'er/co-pilot wasn't yet born when I attended my first national in 1974. What an awakening! I started in this hobby quite young without the cooperation of my father, which required considerable determination.
After 30 years (wow!) in the hobby, and others still think of me as one one of the younger guys at 41 yrs, I realize we have a big gap to fill to keep the interest alive.
