Rick,
The original Champion C-4 were take-apart plugs.I have already disassembled, cleaned, and polished them. This was a brand new set from an old Ford dealership along with original headlight bulbs. This has been my lucky week; since I rec'd a complete set of original plugs, light bulbs, Trico vac wiper motor, Trico Vac Fan and numerous other items.I wish all weeks could be like this when I'm hunting parts for my new A.
Thanks Frank
: Original Champion Spark Plugs in the Model A were the 3x.The center porcelain piece is removable for cleaning. These were replaced in the 1930's by the C4, which are the identical heat range and will work perfectly, but they're not the "take apart" kind. In the last 20 or so years, the C4 was replaced by the W-16-Y.These will also work fine in the Model A; the heat range is very close to the original C4 and 3X.

: Since the Champion plugs are getting expensive (the cheapest being near $7) many people are trying other plugs. Most report to me that their car runs just as good with a Champion 3x-compatible plug, so don't be too hesitant to try a set of 4, which probably sell for under $10.An inexpensive plug to use on a "driver."

: For the purists, we'll continue to look for 3x plugs for "the shows."
