: I have a '28AR.The brake cross-shaft does not have any bushings under the outboard support brackets.Should I add split bronze bushings or would bushings interfere with the "equalizing" design of this early AR cross-brake shaft?Your thoughts would be appreciated!

I also have an AR. This pickup has been in the family since
it was new.My cousins that last drove it before I got it
tell me of how dangerous this early brake system is.If
the ball and socket connection comes apart as it has at
least several times, the EMERGENCY BRAKE? is of no use. This
may or may not be news to you.I also thought that bushings
on each side would help but after learning more about how
things work I left things as they are and keep after the
adjustments to the system. So far I have yet to have the
brakes fail for me.
