I don't think so Tim!Before you go pulling heads and greasing drill bits to catch shavings etc. convince yourself that you have a problem.My A has a faint indent on the timing gear but it's there.You can't feel it with the timing gear pin but you can with a sharp pointed probe.I use a short ice pick to catch the dent in the gear.Works like a champ.I also use a timing light after getting close with the original method but that's a different story.The ideas posed are very good approaches if you have no alternative but don't overwork the problem.
