I agree with Marco that by using acrylic urethane you can duplicate the look of lacquer and heve much better chip and oxidation resistance. In the San Francisco Bay area, we can't even buy lacquer any longer due to pollution controls, and some types of acrylic urethanes are also banned!Anyway, the urethanes can be color sanded and buffed (just as all the exterior areas of the original Model A paint was) to a beautiful shine.Instead of flatting agents added to the paint to duplicate the non-buffed appearance of lacquer, I sprayed the last coat very "dry" in those areas I wanted a duller appearance; this priduced a somewhat "dust" appearance in those areas similiar to lacquer overspray which was not buffed out.Good luck!

: Hello, All

: I will be starting to paint in the very near future. On my 1931 Town Sedan I used a Base Coat Clear Coat system from PPG.

: This of course was not the orginal way Henry had done these cars.Although I find it easy to use is this new system I am wondering what experience or pitfalls would be encompassed in the "old system"

: Do I attempt the traditional or keep it easy and straight forward.

: By the way I use an HVLP sprayer from Lexmark.

: Thanks for your input!

: Craig
