: Hello, All

: I will be starting to paint in the very near future. On my 1931 Town Sedan I used a Base Coat Clear Coat system from PPG.

: This of course was not the orginal way Henry had done these cars.Although I find it easy to use is this new system I am wondering what experience or pitfalls would be encompassed in the "old system"

: Do I attempt the traditional or keep it easy and straight forward.

: By the way I use an HVLP sprayer from Lexmark.

: Thanks for your input!

I have a 1930 murray town sedan that i resrored. I painted
my car at home using lacquer on body & enamel for other
parts. I mixed lacquer 50/50 with thinner and spraied two
light tack coats. Then take what is left in pot and split that
50/50 spray again. Then split pot again 50/50 and spray again
etc. etc. untill last coat is almost 100% thinner. The finish
coat should be so smooth all is need is maybe a little buffing. Lacquer is real easy to work with it dries in min.
so to fix any mistakes before next coat. Use 35lb air pressure
at gun and water trap.
