: Have built 30 Town Sedan from parts.Obviously no title.Indiana DMV says I need an attorney to get a court order to prove ownership prior to title issue.Headache!
:
: Are the title service companies I see in Old Cars Weekly, etc, a legal means of getting title for my use?Or will this just give me more headaches with the DMV?

: Do they also provide a bill of sale?
: Thanks for your help.

Jeff,
In Texas, there is an option of applying for a "lost title".You weigh the car and take a photo of it (so it has to be "together" and not a pile of parts like my pickup). You make a rubbing of the "VIN" or engine number or frame number in our case and make application thru the DMV (in Texas its the County Tax Assessor-Collector).You might check with your government folks and see if there is that sort of application in Indiana. Even try another office of the DMV or the state office in the capital or a regional office is they have those.I've learned that the local folks don't always know the full story or all the possibilities.(I happen to live next door to our local Assessor-Collector which is a real edge sometimes.)
Best of luck and let us know how you make out.
John
