Dave,
I just mounted new Goodyear tires on my freshly painted 30
Coupe wheels. I took a cereal bowl full of water and put one
teaspoon of vegetable oil in the bowl. The oil floats on the
surface of the water and will not harm the tire, tube or paint. I put the wheel hub cap side down (without the hub cap in place) on a scrap of carpet. Next I dipped my fingers into the watery mix and lubricated the bead and seat of the tire well and pushed it onto the wheel, inserted the tube, lubricated the inside edge, bead and seat of the remaining side and pushed it onto the wheel making sure that the opposite bead was in the drop center of the rim. The bead slides into place nicely as you air up the tire. No tire irons and no chips, and mounting from the back side of the rim
will save the 'show' side if any chips should occur with tools should you need them.
Good Luck! Eddie
