Craig,

There are three primary contributors that I am aware of

As Dan suggests, the Firestone tires I've seen since the early 1970's have been oversized (try putting one in your fender well!).

Be sure the spindle bolt(king pin) locking pins have the correct large stop nut & lock washer at the rear to limit the turning of the front wheels. I would expect the tire to hit the brake rod first as Dan experienced.

And again as Dan suggested, a sagging front spring may contribute. Also be sure the spring is properly positioned and firmly attached at the cross member.

Regards,
Marco

: Does anyone know how to cure a problem of the front tire

: wall and heavier tread that might cause this?Anyone know
: a cure?Thanks.
