If you can get your hands on a copy of MAFCA/MARC Judging Standards and Restoration Guidelines, check out the picture on page I-6, a typical 30-31 flat firewall. On the left (passenger) side, there was always a patent plate, held on with 4 press-in screws.To the left of that was a hole for the vacuum wiper tubing, and below that is the fuel sediment bowl.That's it: nothing else! Toward the center of the firewall, there were a couple of other holes: one where the speedo cable came through, one for the choke rod, screw holes for the clamp on the speedo cable. Visit a Model A friend who has a restored car and compare firewalls - it's good to see one in person.Hope this helps. |
