I had a set of those Firestone tires when they first came out back in the 70's. The fronts would rub on the brake rods of my '29 CC pickup during a hard turn, what an awful racket that made! I don't remember if they rubbed on the fender or not though. Those tires always looked a little flat to me, almost like radials look on the modern iron. I always suspected that the sidewalls might be a little thin or soft. You might double check your front spring to see that it is not sagging and causing the tires to rub.
