I wondered about the glass channels. I will give it a go.
I am thinking of calling on the services of an optometerist friend of mine to bring some of her eye testing equipment to measure the refractive index of the windscreen in position and compare it with the plate glass I am removing from the car.
Hopefully this will avoid pulling out the windscreen unless required.I believe about 10% of cars had plate glass screens and the incidence may be higher for the export models. Any risk of a lethal glass screen is high enough to worry about.
I will let you know how I go with the tests.
