The Gear case is die cast aluminum, not pot metal or zinc.depending on the nature of the crack, it could be TIG welded back together.The local Votech school welding instructor might fix it for little or no charge ( or supervise a student tofix it).It wouldn't be worth paying commercial welding rates to repair it.Pick up another at the next swap meet.

: The cap that holds the little gear and bolts up to the bottom of the torque tube on my '30 is badly cracked. I will be on the lookout for a better one, but I'm curious about fixing the one I have.Does anyone know if thispart is pot metal or aluminum?Does anybody have any experience or advice to offer?
