1929 tailights

I just got a 1929 fordor leatherback . The taillight is not what I expected . Instead of being on the rear fender the bracket comes out from the piece that runs along the bottom of the back of the car . I thought this was only on coupes and roadsters . Also has a drum light fixture not a duolamp teacupAny ideas , is this correct or should I change things?
