Front Axle Markings

I'm building up a new front end and have checked the Judging Standards for axle markings. The Standards seem to say that axles with the small Ford script should have the "Ford" on the right side when viewed from the front of the car (the driver's side). I have an axle that looks to be Model A but has the script on the LEFT side. Turn the axle around and it is still on the left. The axle that came off the car (it's bent!) is marked per the Standards... on the right. Does anyone what the story might be with the left-side-marked axle? Thanks.Roger Dean
