Gummy intake valves, intake manifold, and ports come from old gas.Check the gas tank!Clean it out being sure to clean out all varnish deposits. The gasoline of today has more solvents to prevent gumming up in fuel injectors and intake manifolds. This sometimes eats away at varnish build-up from many years of older gas and causes it to adhere to hotter internal motor surfaces like valves and the inside of intake manifolds.
Clean everything out good, use a modern type of fuel filter for a while, and possibly add a bit of 2 cycle oil like you use in your weedeater to the new gas to prevent some of the sticking valves until all traces of the old stuff (varnish from old gas) has gone.

Good luck!
