After doing the "Moulding Color" table in the "...Paint and Finish Guide", I realized there would be value in including the open models even though they didn't have "mouldings" as we know them. When adding and correcting info for the Judging Standards I added my updated table in area 12.You might appreciate the additional information in the 1994 & 1998 revisions! It does specifically say body color. This is however only addressing the INSIDE of the car.

The problem with archive photos is many of the cars are preproduction or specially chosen and built cars where the rules are commonly broken.I borrowed photos of a '28 Phaeton that was striped light on one side and dark on the other, but the only photo from the rear is with the top down hiding all the stripe!

All the original '30-31 Roadsters and Phaetons I've found in the last 25 years have been done as described (or painted all black).Worth noting however, the inside should ALWAYS be body color. If I were judging paint I would except either color on the outside simply because of those few odd archive photos.
