Sadly, that's not the case.Checked the cap, and the right one is in the right place.Removed the cap (just in case it wasn't breathing right), still no change.However, while doing my tests last night, I came up with a better description of the problem

Engine: Hot or cold (makes no difference).Nor does length of time it's been running.
Throttle: Everything is fine the first 1/2" of travel.You can rev' the engine smoothly within that range.As soon as you press the pedal more than 1/2", power drops off rapidly, but comes back as soon as you return to the 1/2" range.

My newest theory is with the secondary well in the carburator, since I had to drill out the remains of the old one (there were only bits and pieces in there).Perhaps I didn't get all the brass bits out...
