Gentlemen,

Thank you for all of your brilliant responses.A good education is priceless. After posting the puzzler I found a picture of the part in my Ford Parts Price List.It has the flats on top and bottom.I now believe Ford starting making them from flat bar stock as a cost saving measure. Why waste the material to make a disk when the 1/2 of the area isn't used at all?I won't be grinding the material as originally stated!I will however be purchasing the new drums from Plasmeter as well!

There seems to be two schools of thought on shoe/drum fitting.Everyone agrees to restored tracks and proper centering, but I've heard some people bending their shoes while others grind their shoe lining.I would think that bending the shoes and keeping a uniform material thickness of the lining is a better way to go.What do you folks think?

Hey Marco,

Maybe in the spring I'll drive her out to Frisco and we can lock up the rears on the hills out there!

Regards,

Kevin Daly
