Jim,
Looking inside such things has been known to happen but is generally frowned upon.I wouldn't worry to much, however I think like many other modifications, the drilled shaft is of little benifit.Any distributors I've serviced have had as much oil at the top as the bottom.Why the oil works it's way up the shaft I can only speculate, but in my experience it works as long as oil is present.
