Motor quits

Here's my problem, Dear Abby: I have a 1931 Model A, power train original, Tillotson carburetor. Starts fine.
I run 3-8 miles, sometimes nonstop, sometimes stopping briefly, then
park for an hour or so.Starts again, runs two or three miles, then it
acts as if out of gas, coughs, loses power.Sometimes choking it for a
block or two gets it going again for a while, other times it dies.After sitting
5-10 minutes it starts up, runs well, then shortly repeats this
performance.It's worse in hot weather, which we have lots of in AZ.
Has anyone experienced this and diagnosed it?
