Stalling when stopping

Hi fellows,

For a while now I have been complaining that my car stalls when I come to a quick stop. This is especially common when I am stopping while going down a grade.

Now... I turned the idle MIXTURE screw ccw 1/4 turn (richens mixture). That helped quite a bit but it did not SOLVE the problem. Now I just installed a John Deere paper air filter (P/N AM108242).This air filter is taller than the air maze type paper filter. Some say the air maze size filter is too small and therefore too restrictive which causes the car to run too rich.To install the JD filter you must install a larger and longer retaining bolt in your air maze.

I had been running a JD filter before but it had gotten dirty so I removed it.I was running the car without a filter for a while (dumb) and that's when the stalling got really bad.

Now that I installed a new filter the stalling has been eliminated. The filter must make the car run a bit richer and that corrected the problem.

What do you guys think? How about some feedback.

Thanks.

Brian
