The one I saved appeared to be made of top material, wrapped around some cord. If you saved yours, you can use it as a pattern, especialy for the cord size (think it's about 3/16" dia, I don't have my sample handy). I used a scrap of top material for mine, usually *someone* has recently put on a top and has some material left over! Of course, I have a commercial sewing machine, so I just stitched mine together. If you don't know someone w/ a machine, maybeyou could talk a real shop into doing it, it should just take about 3 minutes, if you've cut out the material already. Maybe you could just glue it together, a lot of modern welting is done that way--but it wouldn't be quite authentic!! (OK, who's lookng under my visor with a magnifying glass!!!)
I hope this is helpful.
