Differential assembly

Ok, guys I need your help.I'm reassembling a differential and need to know how to match-up the two casing (the parts that hold the axles, spider gears and ring gear).Everybody's books say to "mark the parts" before dissasembly.Ok, mine came dissambled in a box.I've tried it all three ways that will fit.How do you know the right way?Anybody got any tricks up their sleeve?
