I recently completed a Lebaron Bonney interior in my 1931 Tudor using original, replated window cranks. They were a REAL CHALLENGE getting them in.We found that two people doing the install was required:I would push on the escutcheon plate and compress the spring and my wife placed the handle in position and inserted the pin.

Before I installed the window cranks, I temporarily put them in place and wound the window closed. Then, I decided how I wanted the handle to be positioned with the window up.It made sense that the handle should be positioned so that the weight of the end be slightly off of the "12 o'clock" position in the direction you'd turn the handle to lift (close) the window. If you install it the other way, there's a slight chance the weight of the handle could help the window lower itself (especially if the window tracks were worn.)

Be calm and collected when you're doing this. A nice, cool day doesn't hurt either. I picked a July afternoon to do mine and I was soaking wet when I finished!
