As I recall, there were two light switches, one for 1928-29 steering columns and one for 1930-31 columns.The visual difference is that the early ones are noticibly shorter in the lower end, but the upper ends appear to be the same.
If that's the case, you may want to try a later switch and see if your lower "cup" fits it properly.The reproduction switches are junk - find an original if you can.They go for $5-$10 at the West Coast swaps.
