Kevin,
Can you stand two more cents worth? A while back someone noted that the area on the float where the float valve rides sometimes will have a worn spot that causes the float to cock and thus not seat properly. The rubber seats should not leak unless they get crude from the tank in them. Do you have a glass sediment bowl? If so, do you see any rust or crude in there. The make some better gas filters nowthat trap finer particles than the original screens. I can Brattons numbers if you want. One of these installs in the carb and I believe there is one that fits inside of the glass sediment bowl.
