On 1930 models with the "two piece" splash apron, the welt
was used between the "inset" piece of the apron in the fender
and the runningboard splash apron, proper, only... not between
the fender and the runningboard. This welt was not the usual
size but was "gas tank welt" size - 1/8". The welt was not
used around the perimeter of the "inset" piece where it joins
the fenders (most of these were spot-welded not bolted) either.
Think about powdercoating your runningboards if they're good
enough. These boards are scratched constantly by the pitter-
patter of little feet. Even if you manage to get them on with
out scarring them, they don't stay that way once you start
driving it.
