I just tried to install new seals from an "A" parts supplier ( no names). They were quite inferior in that they deformed when installed and were not what I would want to have in my reaar end knowing the trouble one would have to go to , to replace them. Jim Schild in his "shop manual" said they may be available at a better quality "locally". I found rear axle/drive shaft seals available @ NAPA. They had to be ordered, they weren't available on demand, but they were in the friday after x-mas when ordered on x-mas eve. The NAPA part no. is 49289. This they were able to x-reference from the original ford no. A-4245. The difference in quality is absolute and worth ANY hunt that has to be done........ Steve |
