I installed this stuff too. You work "from left to right" across
the front one screw-nail at a time. The aluminum is very soft
and really maleable. You drill one hole, nail one screw nail
(I actually used tiny, tiny countersunk headed screws), smooth
out the next inch or so, drill a hole, nail and repeat. On the
one that goes all the way around the three sides, I couldn't
find one that was long enough to go all the way around, so I
had to use two and started (same process) at the center of
the back. When you get close to the front moulding, where they join
please refer to "A close look at metal top mouldings" (The
Restorer" magazine Vol. 28-2 . While you have some room to
work and a real exact idea of how long the thing needs to be,
you must angle cut the end off so it can be formed over the
front moulding so it looks sort of like the deluxe hood hinge
retainer where it curls over the cowl band, but more flush
than that. The key to working with this stuff is "gently"
"patiently" It took one whole day and part of another to do
this whole job. In the hot sun. Up on a step ladder. I can
think of better ways to spend my time.
