: "Doctors coupe" is a cool name somebody made up. I believe tha
: certain Model T coupes were actually named that, but 30 and
: 31 coupes come in three types - sport, deluxe, and standard only.
: Any of the three may or may not possess a rumble seat. The
: former looks like a roadster whose top doesn't come down and
: which has full doors and glass. The two latter are simply
: the same car with either plain or fancy interiors, etc. Sort
: of like the difference between a "stripped" model nowdays, and
: a fancy one. The utterly most I've ever heard anyone ask for
: and get for a deluxe coupe is $16,000. and it was beyond nice
: into the realm of surreal. It had a bunch of MAFCA and MARC
: awards to prove how nice it was, too. If by "in original condition"
: you mean "nothing's been done to it", there's no way I'd pay
: more than $3,500 for it. A "pretty nice original" car will
: still cost $10,000 or more to restore. If you can stomach it
: just the way it is, and if it runs good enough to do so, you
: might be able to go as high as $5,000. See my former comments
: on the subject of buying model A's to RA Breckler on this
: board. The important thing is to know what condition it is
: actually in before you make any offers.

There was a misunderstanding about a doctors coupe. My daughter thought that the owner said it was a doctors coupe. What he meant was that the previous owner was a doctor. This coupe has a trunk so it was easier for him to get his satchel. I want to thank you for your replies. It really helps to have experts like you on the Web. The Model A is probably a standard coupe. It is kept at the beach and is suseptable to salt air. The body has a little rust but the frame has a lot. The engine runs good but has oil leaks. I won't know where its leaking from unless I clean the area. It could be just the oil pan gasket. The rear end also has a leak around the differential. According to the 1996 Edition of the ultimate collector car price guide book the car is rated about a 4 with a value of $2400. The owner paid $12500 about 9 years ago. He doesn't expect to get that much and I don't think that I can get it for $2400 either but I'll try. I don't think that it is competely original because the Model A Story does not list black as a standard color. Again, Thanks
